8.1 Cognitive monitoring describes the interaction between metacognitive knowledge, metacognitive experiences, cognitive goals or tasks, and cognitive actions.
8.2 Cognitive monitoring involves reflective awareness of knowledge and monitoring, control and regulation of this knowledge during problem solving.
8.3 Cognitive monitoring facilitates knowing how to apply and control knowledge to enable the realisation of task goals.
8.25 Metacognitive experiences can be implicit or explicit.
